The song was written by U2 members, Bono, Adam Clayton, The Edge and Larry Mullen Jr. “Sweetest Thing” was originally released as a B-side on the “Where the Streets Have No Name” single (August 1987). Sweetest Thing” was left off the original issue of “The Joshua Tree” but it’s included on its 20th and 30th anniversary reissues. The song was re-recorded and re-released as a single in October 1998 for the U2 greatest hits compilation album The Best of 1980–1990. The single reached the top ten in numerous countries, including #1 in Canada, Ireland, and Poland. In the UK, it peaked at #3.
