The song was written by Prince for his sixth studio album “Purple Rain”. It was released as the second single from the album in July 1984 with “Erotic City” on the B-side (Take Me With U in the UK). “Let’s Go Crazy” topped the Billboard’s Hot 100, Dance Club Songs, and Hot Black Singles charts.
