The song was written by Survivor members, Frankie Sullivan and Jim Peterik. “High On You” was released as the second single from their fifth studio album, “Vital Signs”. The single was released in March 1985 with “Everlasting” on the B-side. The single reached #8 both on Billboard Hot 100, and Top Rock Tracks charts in the United States.

American singer and songwriter Aretha Franklin was born. In 1987, her duet with George Michael, "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)" topped the singles charts in the UK and US.  Aretha Franklin died of cancer on August 16, 2018 in Detroit at the age of 76.

Sir Elton John (Reginald Kenneth Dwight) was born. He had seven numbers ones in the UK and nine in the US.  His tribute single "Candle in the Wind 1997" sold over 33 million copies worldwide and is the best-selling single in the history of the UK and US singles charts.
