The song was written by Jerry Chesnut and originally recorded by country singer George Jones (1970). Costello’s cover was released as the first single from his sixth studio album “Almost Blue”. The single was released in March 1981 with “Your Angel Steps Out Of Heaven” on the B-side. It peaked #5 in Ireland and #6 in the Official UK singles chart.
