The song was written by Keith Diamond, Billy Ocean, and Robert John “Mutt” Lange. “Loverboy” was released as the second single from Ocean’s fifth studio album “Suddenly”. The single was released in November 1984 with “Dub Mix” version on the B-side. It peaked at #2 on Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.
