American singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman was born. She's a four-time Grammy Award–winning artist. Her debut self-titled album (1988) topped the albums charts in many countries, including the US and the UK. It produced three singles: "Fast Car", "Talkin' 'bout a Revolution", and "Baby Can I Hold You".
