The song was written by Dexy’s Midnight Runners’ members, Kevin Archer and Kevin Rowland. “Geno” was released as the lead single off their debut album, “Searching for the Young Soul Rebels”. It was released in March 1980 with “Breakin’ Down the Walls of Heartache” on the B-side. The single reached #1 on the Official UK Singles chart and #2 in Ireland.
