American singer, songwriter, musician, producer Ric Ocasek was born. He was the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and songwriter for the rock band The Cars. Ric Ocasek was found dead in his NYC apartment on 15 September 2019, at age 75.

American singer Chaka Khan (Yvette Marie Stevens) was born. In the 1970s she was the lead vocalist of the funk band Rufus. In 1984, she reached the top ten in numerous countries with "I Feel For You", the lead single from her fifth solo album of the same name.
