English singer and actress Toyah, (Victoria Wilcox) was born. In 1981, she had three top ten singles in the UK: "Four from Toyah" (EP), "I Want to Be Free", and "Thunder in the Mountains".

American singer-songwriter and actress Martika (Marta Marrero) was born. In 1989, she topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with "Toy Soldiers", the second single from her self-titled debut album.
