The song was written by Enya (born Eithne Pádraigín Ní Bhraonáin – anglicised as Enya Patricia Brennanand), and Irish writer Roma Ryan. “Evening Falls” was released as the second single from her second studio album, Watermark. The single was released in December 1988 with “Oíche Chiún” on the B-side. It reached number 3 in Ireland and #20 on the Official UK Singles chart.
