The song was written by the band’s lead vocalist Ric Ocasek. “Tonight She Comes” was released as the single (and the only new song) from the band’s compilation album “Greatest Hits”. It was released in October 1985 with “Just What I Needed” on the B-side. The single hit the number 1 spot on Billboard Mainstream Rock chart in the United States.
