The song was written by the band guitarist and vocalist Brian Setzer. “(She’s) Sexy & 17” was released as the second single from the Stray Cats’ third studio album “Rant n’ Rave with the Stray Cats”. It was released in July 1983 with “Looking Better Every Beer” on the B-side. It peaked at #5 on Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. In the UK, it reached #29.

1949 Eddie Money

American rock singer and songwriter, Eddie Money (Edward Joseph Mahoney) was born. During the 80's he had three number one hits on Billboard Mainstream Rock chart: "Think I'm in Love" (1982), "Take Me Home Tonight" (1986), and "The Love in Your Eyes" (1989). Eddie Money died of cancer in a Los Angeles hospital on September 13, 2019, at age 70.
