Gene Pitney’s version was released same years reaching # 5 on the UK Singles Chart. Marc Almond’s cover was originally recorded by Almond alone for his album The Stars We Are in 1988. The single version reunited it with Gene Pitney. The single reached number one in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Switzerland in 1989.
